Open Wood Shop This Week:

Dust Collection on the cheap. The system I set up uses a regular Ridgid vac and connects to portals that allows me to connect to 4 different tools on the fly. In this video I set up the fourth tool and throw in some nifty tips and jigs to boot.

I think you'll agree that you get a lot here for 4 minutes of your life. >>

Open Wood Shop This Week:

Keeping a small shop organized and clean seems like a never ending war sometimes, but every now and then you win a battle or two. The last week or so I've made several improvements to help things along, and one thing that did more than I would have ever imagined was to make a wall from artificial brick paneling.

It covers the lumber racks (which is always a lost cause to keep clean and dust free) and it adds so much more to the over all pleasantness of the work space than I ever could have imagined.

And it makes the videos look nicer I think.>>

BOAT BUILDING

For the time being I am going to send you off to PaddleAndOar.com >>, which I use to chronicle my boat building adventures. As I develop this site I'll be putting up some material dealing with some of the wood working techniques practiced in boat building.

THE BOOKSHELF

It's hard to imagine being a wood worker without the aid of wood working books. From all over the world, from different cultures, spanning back hundreds of years, books are a message from the past to us today.

BOXES >>

Utilitarian, whimsical, expensive wood or shop scraps, boxes are just fun to make. Here is a (growing) collection of boxes I've made over the years.
