Dealing with Moisture in the Bee Hives

Dealing with livestock and garden issues requires being able to plan long term. Last Spring we lost our two bee hives, bought 3 nucs, had a good season, built them up and split one, and I've just put them to bed for the Winter.

The main issue this year that I've focused on is moisture inside the hives. It was sickening to scoop out thousands of soggy bee carcasses last Spring and after doing some thinking and reading, I decided that I'd try quilting boxes, which is something brand new for me.

I have high hopes but I won't really know anything until next Spring when I open the hives up again. Then I can assess the situation and begin planning for the following Spring after that.

Clicking on the image will bring you to the video which explains all of this so much better. And of course, don't forget to SUBSCRIBE so you can follow what's happening on Open Wood Shop & Old Montgomery's Farm!

YARD & GARDEN -- ( Redirects to OldMontgomerysFarm.com )

It's not all about mowing the lawn. There's plenty of wood working projects too! All Yard & Garden pages now redirects to OldMontgomerysFarm.com as a way of separating that type of woodworking from my other projects.

THE BOOKSHELF

It's hard to imagine being a wood worker without the aid of wood working books. From all over the world, from different cultures, spanning back hundreds of years, books are a message from the past to us today.

BOXES >>

Utilitarian, whimsical, expensive wood or shop scraps, boxes are just fun to make. Here is a (growing) collection of boxes I've made over the years.
