The circular saw has a lot more potential than just hacking away at 2x4s. But while the powerful table saw tends to steal the spotlight, the humble circular saw usually stays in the drawer.
This week my video introduces a jig that allows me to rip a 2x4 the long way, making two 1x4s. I use this to cut long pieces when I make boats and it is much faster and easier to set up than the table saw. It also allows me to cut an edge groove so that I can spline together boards and if I take one fence off I can handily trim the bottom of a door.
I will also show how a fence and a speed square can greatly expand your circular saw's capabilities. There's a lot more about this on the video and by looking through the additional info on the web page.
